RG3 is a huge superstar, and now he getting his own documentary. RG3 is ready to take his rehabilitation and practice intensity to the next level only months after ACL surgery, and people are asking how is he doing it? Well you are about to get answers to that question when the documentary chronicling his recovery ” The will to win” airs August 27th on ESPN at 7 P.M. E.T. This documentary will focus on how RG3 won the Rookie of the Year honors, the Redskins playoff run, and how he made it to the Pro-Bowl all in his first year in the NFL. Robert Griffin III also took part in filming the documentary using a self held camera to give the footage a personal touch. The facts about his injury and recovery have been held under pretty tight wraps until now. Tune in to ESPN to see how he has made it this far and to see if he will start the season under center as the Redskin’s starting QB!
I am really not sure how to answer that question at this point in the year. The Redskins are really happy with the progress of RG3′s rehab and performance in drills at this point. The fact of the matter is that Robert Griffin III and the Redskins have both said that you will not see him in any pre-season games this year. I think after the way the injury was handled last year everyone is going to be really cautious with him this year. So here is what we know from last year about RG3′s fantasy performance. In 2012 while not playing in every game RG3 posted the 5th highest fantasy points for a QB with 317. Only Brees, Brady, Rodgers, and Newton finished with more points. That also was better than any RB or WR in the 2012 season. Let’s no forget that he missed a few games and was a rookie. With that being said and everything that happened last year he could take a step back. Matthew Berry from ESPN has RG3 ranked 65th overall and as the 7th QB. If he doesn’t have any setbacks in camp I am going to take the risk and draft him before then.
RG3 was back on the field on Thursday and has been participating in team drills. RG3 is back in pads, participating in team practices and is looking good. Day three of camp and now wearing some pads RG3 participated in 7 on 7 drills where he completed 5 of 9 passes he threw. RG3 also took off running and slid for safety at the end of the run to the delight of the more than eleven thousand fans in attendance. RG3 says that he will be ready for the start of the 2013 season, but does not plan on playing at all in the pre-season. The Redskins open the pre-season at the Tennessee Titans, and the regular season kicks off at home against the Eagles. I can’t wait to see when RG3 comes back when ever it is going to be. I just hope he is smart about how he plays and makes it through a full season!
Everyone close to the situation and friends with the quarterback say that RG3 will be at practice this week. Unfortunatly, none of their opinion counts, and the only opinion that matters is Dr. James Andrews. The doctor will examine RG3 on Wednesday this week and decide if the quarterback is able to come back to practice. Robert Griffin III has benn running and performing cutting drills without limitations, but that is very different from live action. RG3 has suffered no setbacks, and is confident he will be ready for the start of the season. Dr. Andrews could put RG3 on the PUP list which would prevent him from practicing with the team. Not a huge deal because Adrian Peterson started last season on the PUP list and look what he did! Hopefully RG3 hasn’t pushed too hard and will be able to start the season at 100%.
Robert Griffin III’s mother, Jackie Griffin, informed Fox DC that the happy couple is scheduled to get married this summer. RG3 and his fiancee, Rebecca Liddicoat, have been engaged since October 2010 when he proposed after a Baylor football game where they won 47-42 thanks to RG3′s 4 touchdown performance. The unconfirmed date of the wedding is July 6th, but no one has uncovered the location of the event! If you are wondering where a NFL superstar and his future wife are registered at, Bed Bath and Beyond, is the answer. Some good investigative work revealed that a couple name Robert Griffin and Rebecca Liddicoat are registered there.
Hopefully this does not become a distraction to RG3 or the Washington Redskins! Also, let’s hope that the wedding planning does not interfere with the rehabilitaion of RG3′s knee. With a $21.1 million dollar contract and a ton of big name endorsements, I can’t even imagine what the price tag on this wedding will be. Hopefully RG3′s knee injury is all better by the time the 1st dance rolls around. I am sure that this will be the talk of the summer, and hopefully all the chaos that newlyweds go through is over by the start of the 2013 football season!
Robert Griffin III shows that his rehab is going well when he performs a couple of jumping jacks at a Redskins draft party. Now his form was pretty bad, but it looks like he wanted to do something to show he was feeling good and him jumping up and down turned into sort of a jumping jack. He little movement excited the crown and really put a smile on everyone’s face. Now jumping jacks are a long way from playing an NFL football game, but it is a good start!
After a season ending knee injury Robert Griffin III says” I have learned from my mistakes.” This coming during his road to recovery from the ACL tear he suffered at the end of last season. The injury was surrounded by controversy when finger pointing began between RGIII, coach Shanahan, and the team doctors. Robert Griffin III was trying to prove his toughness to his teammates, and that he could lead them to the NFC championship when he tried to play through an injury that ultimately lead to surgery. RGIII now says if there comes a point in the season where he is not 100% or feels a tweak, he will take himself out of the game and deal with possible injury to make sure he does not do any further damage.
An NFL player usually has a short career, with a few exceptions, now RGIII understands now when to push himself, and when to be smart about a possible injury getting worse by continuing to play. RGIII als says that he is going to have to be smarter when running the ball and get out of bounds, or slide, instead of trying to get that extra yard or two and taking a big hit. RGIII is focused on getting back on the field for the start of the 2013 season and will try and lead the Redskins, or whatever their name is by then, back to the playoffs!
Well after a 10 wins season and a playoff appearance the Washington Redskin’s Rookie gets a street named after him back in his home town. RG3 graced his small home town for the dedication ceremony on March 8th, 2013. His home town of Copper’s Cove has a population of about 32,000 residents, and RG3 is by far the most famous. Despite the bad weather about 500 fans turned out for the dedication. RG3 being the great role model spent some time with the crowd signing autographs and playing with some children who attended. The idea of the street first came about during Robert Griffin III’s Heisman Trophy run, but they waited until now so they could get all the red tape ironed out. Copper’s Cove is hoping that this street will bring some more visitors to their small town in the future and appreciate that RG3 came out to celebrate the occasion.
In light of the recent Adidas commercial featuring RG3 stating he is all in for week 1, I felt the need to write about the situation. Now typically it takes nine months or more for an ACl recovery, but after what Adrain Peterson did this last year, who knows what RG3 is capable of. Now Dr. James Andrews stated that RG3 is “ahead of schedule,” and that is good news. Dr. James Andrews is a world renowned surgeon, and has seen plenty of ACl tears and recoveries.
Personally I hope that the commercial does not put too much pressure on RG3 to return for week one. He has stated that he is not going to risk his career to rush back in time for week one, but after how the original injury was handled, you never know. Everything aside the new Adidas commercial is awesome and inspiring for anyone who has ever been injured. Hopefully RG3 makes it back in time for the start of the season, and the Redskins can build off of there impressive 2012 season. I think after the controversy over the initial injury the Redskins organization will handle his comeback very differently and more carefully.
I am following his recovery and rehabilitation very closely, and will keep everyone posted as soon as news breaks on his condition.
Redskins are very optimistic after the 1st month’s progress of RG3′s rehabilitation. The Redskins organization is now saying that it is very possible that he will be under center for the start of the 2013 NFL season. RG3 is a physical freak and is determined to make it back in time to help his team this year. The Redskins have a lot to build on and will be very confident going into the season if RG3 is under center. Stay tuned for updates on Robert Griffin III’s progress throughout this trying time!
